Barney McCaffrey is a local musician, poet, farmer, teacher, storyteller, historian and social activist. He has been working on two programs for CHCR, all of which reflect his philosophy, Interests and background.
1- Valley Voices -
Stories, especially personal stories, are what keep a culture alive. When rural people surrender their stories to the urban myth makers of TV and commercial radio, they lose their own culture and end up with the impossibility of trying to live in a rural area within the structure of an urban ethos. "Valley Voices" will collect the stories of our local people, young and old, and complement them with story songs by local musicians.
2- Overturning Tables -
A Social Justice program produced in part by The Marguerite Center of Pembroke.
